Successful Selling Tips
I have my inventory stored in small laundry baskets on a shelving unit by sizes and seasons. I put everything in it's own zip-lock bag with one of my shipping notes. When I sell that item I know right where it's at and it's already to be put in a poly mailer, weighed, and shipped!
I hang up anything that comes on a hanger because it is most likely already covered in plastic as well. I also seperate bins by line id and then by boy/girl. I don't have enough to seperate by size anymore, but that works also. I have all bins labeled(sp?) on the outside with big clear lables. Each item is sealed in a clear poly bag. When it sells I just open the bin and slip it in the envelope! VIOLA!
I try to write up my listings when I first purchase an item to resale. It helps me to do it this way while the line name and description are fresh on my mind. It save me time later by not having to ID it or come up with a clever way to describe it. Then when I'm ready to list I just snap the photos, upload, edit and send it to eBay!
One of the best things I have done to improve my listings is edit my photos!!
Whether brighten, darken, sharpen, or crop my pics ALWAYS look better after I edit them!!
My productivity is way beyond what it was when I first started selling on ebay. I do more volume now, than then and it takes 1/3 of the time. Back then I just did auction format, emailed each winner personally etc. Now I use tools like Sellers Sourcebook, I use Turbo Lister (LOVE IT!!), I have listing sheets I have created with all my auction info (each item has its own sheet); these sheets are stored alphabetically in a binder and I use ebay's Selling Manager program to manage all of my auctions. Oh yeah, I also list and sell 90% of my stuff out of my store. Just by learning about and using these tools, I am able to do so much more than I use to could. I don't have 20 auctions ending at once, I don't email each winner, Selling Manager does it for me. For me, the various resources and tools are key (next to good organization in your ebay room).
One of the best things I have done is sign up for free usps pick up. You log onto the usps website at night, enter how many packages you'll have and the approx weight and your good to go. Your postman will pick them up at your specified location the next day! I use bins to put my packages in. If your area does not offer this, keep checking. Mine didn't for the longest time and finally last Summer it started!
